About
Hebron Lutheran Church is a multigenerational congregation in Northern Kentucky, serving this community for over 170 years. Founded by families in 1854, we continue to worship at the original Limaburg Road site. We exist “to know Him and to make Him known.” We center everything on Jesus – from heartfelt traditional liturgy to modern praise music – so you can encounter God in a way that connects with you. You’ll also find small-group classes and service opportunities where people grow in faith together.
What should I expect on my first visit? You can expect a welcoming atmosphere, friendly faces, and Christ-centered worship. Our traditional service at 9am features hymns and liturgy, while our modern service at 11am includes contemporary music and a relaxed style. Kids are welcome in worship or can join Kids’ Church, and nursery care is available. No matter which service you attend, you’ll hear God’s Word preached and be invited to share in Communion.
History
Hebron Lutheran Church’s story began in 1854, when sixteen German families who had roots in a Virginia congregation came together to form a new church in northern Kentucky. They organized Hebron Evangelical Lutheran Church (named after their ‘grandmother’ church in Virginia) and began construction on the church building that would stand for over a century on Limaburg Road. A new sanctuary was built in 1968, and renovations creating offices and church meeting spaces were completed in 1997.
Fun Fact: The city of Hebron, Kentucky, is named after the church! The area was originally known as Briar Thicket, but later took on the name Hebron because of the prominence of our church.
Over the decades, Hebron Lutheran remained a steadfast presence in Boone County. The church weathered wars and social changes but always focused on the Gospel. In recent years we joined the Lutheran Congregations in Mission for Christ (LCMC) network, committing ourselves to the Great Commission.
Today, Hebron Lutheran Church celebrates more than 170 years of history. God is more at work than ever in our church. We honor our heritage in Word and Sacrament, and we embrace the future the Lord has for us. As Boone County – and the surrounding tri-state area – continue to grow, we look forward to the opportunities ahead. Our journey continues as we press on in our mission to know Him and to make Him known.
Vision and Values
Our Vision
To know Him and to make Him known. This guiding purpose shapes everything at Hebron Lutheran Church – from worship and preaching to our outreach and teaching.
Core Values
We embrace these values as the fabric of our community and relationships:
- Word & Worship: We are committed to Biblically-centered preaching and teaching, with weekly celebration of Communion. God’s Word and Christ-centered worship keep us rooted.
- Multigenerational: We honor our heritage and engage every age. Children, youth, adults, and seniors all have a place here, and we believe learning from each generation strengthens our faith together.
- Missions (Acts 1:8): Following Jesus’ command, we share the Gospel locally and globally. Our efforts reach from nearby neighborhoods (our “Jerusalem”) to other cities, prisons, and nations (our “ends of the earth”).
- Personal Invitation: A warm, personal invite is the heart of how we grow our church. We encourage everyone to bring friends and welcome newcomers into worship and service.
- Generosity: God has been lavishly generous to us. In gratitude, we give joyfully – tithes, talents, and time – to support the church and those in need.
- Clarity & Transparency: We strive for openness in everything, from leadership decisions to finances. You can trust how we handle resources and communication.
These values empower us to spend our lives in sacrificial service to God and others, building a vibrant, grace-filled community.
